The grey spacing tape was specially designed for use in hybrid bonding applications. In such bonding applications, the components to be bonded are secured using two materials – an adhesive and a tape. The strong-adhesion spacing tape, made from modified acrylic foam, acts as a fixing aid for the component to be bonded in this type of application. It holds the component in place until the adhesive, which is intended to permanently secure it, has hardened and reached its full adhesive strength. The tape can be used wherever a defined bonding gap of 3 mm (or more) is required – for example, in applications and coatings using WEICON Plastic Metal. It is also suitable for thick-layer bonding of elastic adhesives and sealants. The spacing tape is highly flexible and adapts perfectly to the surfaces to be bonded. It can be used for permanent bonding both indoors and outdoors. The closed-cell adhesive tape has a high elongation at break of 650%, a temperature resistance from -40 °C to +120 °C and is resistant to UV and moisture. The spacing tape can be used in a variety of applications, such as vehicle construction, the caravan sector, metal and apparatus construction, enclosure manufacturing, the electronics industry, mechanical engineering, the furniture industry, advertising technology and shipbuilding. The tape has a width of 6 mm, a thickness of 3.1 mm and a roll length of 16.5 metres.
