Renewal of a machine tool bed
with WEICON WR
In this application, the original cast coating is first removed by heating to over 200 °C. The surface is then rebuilt using the steel-filled epoxy resin system WEICON WR. WEICON WR is particularly suitable for potting and gap filling applications as it offers high compressive strength and can be processed with precision. The area to be filled is slightly overfilled to allow precise mechanical reworking after curing. The surface is then milled and fitted with new cooling channels, restoring full functionality of the machine bed. WEICON WR enables permanent repair of the machine tool, reduces downtime and avoids high investment costs.
Manufacture of axle gaiters
with WEICON Mould Release Agent and WEICON Urethane 45
For the production of axle gaiters, a clean mould and reproducible casting process are essential for dimensional accuracy and function. The mould is first cleaned with WEICON Cleaner Spray S to reliably remove residues. It is then pre-treated with WEICON Mould Release Agent, which enables clean demoulding of the components. The actual casting of the axle gaiters is carried out with WEICON Urethane 45, an elastic polyurea casting resin with good recovery and high mechanical strength. The material cures to a flexible, durable structure and is ideal for reproducing different geometries. This allows axle gaiters to be produced economically and precisely without relying on expensive original parts – a flexible and cost-effective solution for mechanical engineering.
Bonding of polyethylene strips to aluminium rails

Temporary securing of workpieces during wire EDM (wire electrical discharge machining)
with WEICON Contact Gel and WEICON CA-Remover
During wire EDM, workpieces must be fixed as any movement could damage the precisely manufactured components. With a gap of around 0.3 mm, premature movement is particularly critical as it could cause the part to tilt. WEICON Contact Gel is pressed into the gap with a spatula, activated with water and then left to cure for around 10 minutes. Through shock curing and the curing time, the adhesive reaches the required strength to prevent tilting. After EDM machining, the adhesive can be reliably removed using WEICON CA-Remover. In this way, residues can be removed more easily than with previously used two-component epoxy adhesives.
Sealing of metal housings in the manufacture of emergency lighting systems
with WEICON Flex 310 M® HT 200
In the manufacture of emergency lighting systems, metal housings are reliably sealed with WEICON Flex 310 M® HT 200. Sealing is carried out prior to powder coating and requires even application with high positional accuracy, as the components are safety-critical. The Pressure Gun Airflow 3 enables precise application of the sealant, allowing both flow rate and material quantity to be accurately controlled. This results in a uniform and durable seal that meets the requirements for safety, resistance and further processing in mechanical and plant engineering.
