How do I remove rust?
Spray-on protection
Protect surfaces from rust, dirt and weathering
With the right coating, surfaces can be protected against dirt, weathering, sunlight or corrosion. As with adhesives, the choice of the right product also depends on the area of application and the surface structure.
Metal sprays for surface and corrosion protection
Our metal sprays are perfect for surface and corrosion protection and contain synthetic resins enriched with metal pigments. In a spray can, there is always an active ingredient and a propellant. Shaking the can sets the stirring ball in motion and mixes the metal pigments with the synthetic resin. The propellant, e.g. propane and butane, exerts pressure on the active ingredient and the two begin to mix. It is therefore important to shake the can repeatedly before use and also during prolonged use.
Protection against rust with Zinc Spray
One of our most popular products is our Zinc Spray, which provides excellent, long-lasting active and cathodic corrosion protection. How does zinc work on a surface? When exposed to moisture, the zinc changes to zinc oxide and increases in volume, which prevents cracking and makes further penetration of moisture from the air more difficult. A distinction is made between zinc sprays that form a microfine layer of flakes or of beads. In terms of application type and application thickness, both have their raison d’être. Thin layers can be built up with the flakes and thicker layers with the beads. Depending on the area of application, a layer of flakes or a layer of beads is more suitable. If, for example, a weld seam is to be coated, a zinc coating that forms a layer of beads is recommended due to the greater layer thickness. Zinc flake coating is ideal for flat coatings, for example in lightweight construction.
Surface finish with metal sprays
If not only corrosion protection and weather resistance are important, but also a visually appealing coating, e.g. on a garden gate, we have a range of effective coatings for a perfect surface finish, e.g. stainless steel, aluminium, brass and copper sprays.
Preservation and insulation of components and tools
Thanks to the right helpers, special components can be preserved. Tools and precision parts that are to be stored indoors can be preserved with a wax-like coating using Corro-Protection The insulating spray can be used to protect electronic components. It adheres not only to metal, but also to glass, plastic or wood.
Remove rust
How can rust be removed? If the surface has already suffered extremely from external influences, there is also a solution for this. Rusty metal fittings, ageing banisters or poorly maintained tools can still be saved, for example by neutralising the rust with the Rust Converter. Seized screw connections can be loosened with a chemical wrench such as Rust Shock or Rust Loosener Fluid.
